Caroline Millar, Senior Associate

Caroline is a Senior Associate with SKO. She trained in Edinburgh with a large multi-disciplinary firm and then worked in the Central Belt in a busy court practice for three years before joining SKO in 2012, becoming a  Senior Associate in 2022. She is a tutor on the undergraduate Family Law course at the University of Edinburgh.

Caroline is a careful, considered and dedicated lawyer. Her attention to detail is widely praised by clients and counsel alike and she is particularly skilled at providing pragmatic and reassuring advice in a sensitive manner.

Caroline’s work is varied and encompasses a broad range of family law issues including financial provision on separation and divorce, cohabitation and pre and post nuptial agreements. While much of her workload sees her working as lead solicitor, she is very much in her element working with other team members and counsel in cases which involve complex elements, like jurisdiction, tax and corporate issues. She is an experienced Edinburgh agent in Court of Session cases and particularly enjoys working with instructing solicitors on such cases.

Caroline has a particular interest in, and experience of, public law family issues- especially surrogacy, Adults with Incapacity matters (including financial and welfare guardianship and intervention orders), kinship care and adoption.

Caroline is often instructed in child related issues and has appearance experience as a Sheriff Court practitioner in such cases. She is a member of our surrogacy and assisted reproduction team.
