Rachael Kelsey takes part in Hague Conference Experts' Group on International Surrogacy

19th October 2020

Rachael Kelsey represented the IAFL at the Hague Conference on Private International Law meeting of the Experts’ Group on Parentage / Surrogacy.

From 12 to 16 October 2020, the Experts’ Group on Parentage / Surrogacy met for the seventh time.

The Group is focusing on developing possible provisions for a Convention on the recognition of decisions on parentage and a separate protocol on the recognition of decisions on parentage coming about following an international surrogacy arrangement.

An Aide Memoire which captures the topics discussed can be found here. The Group will continue its work during 2021 and is due to report to the Hague Conference Council on General Affairs and Policy in 2022. Rachael attended the sixth Experts Group in 2019 and you can find out more about that meeting here.
